KALENBORN Wear Protection

KALENBORN designs and manufactures heavy-duty lined piping systems for abrasive pneumatic conveying. Structural steel casings are lined with specialized mineral, ceramic or metallic materials to resist sliding abrasion, high-velocity particle erosion and impact, helping prevent premature failure when transporting ash, sand, slag or sinter dust.

Wear-Protected Pipe Systems

• KALFLEX Flexible Hosing Systems: Designed for lines subjected to high vibrations, mechanical expansion, or tight routing angles. These flexible rubber hoses feature diamond-shaped KALOCER ceramic plates vulcanized directly into the inner lining, combining high-grade ceramic wear protection with full structural flexibility.
• The "GREEN" Product Range: A sustainable asset-lifecycle program where worn steel pipe casings can be returned to the manufacturer, stripped of old linings, and remanufactured with fresh material cylinders. This structural recycling process reduces the total carbon footprint of the pipeline by up to 90% compared to manufacturing new steel components.
• System Availability: Lined assemblies are available in standard and customized industrial diameters (exceeding 1,500mm), manufactured as complete, ready-to-install components equipped with standard flanged or coupled connections for rapid field integration.

Ceramic, Basalt & Hardfaced Linings

• ABRESIST® Fused Cast Basalt: The industry-standard lining for friction-induced abrasion. Produced by melting natural basalt and heat-treating it into a crystalline structure, it creates an ultra-hard surface. Over time, it develops a permanently smooth, low-friction finish that actively improves material flowability.
• KALCOR® Zirconium Corundum & KALOCER® High-Alumina Ceramics: Engineered for extreme mechanical wear and high thermal thresholds. KALCOR handles severe abrasion combined with high service temperatures up to 400°C. KALOCER consists of thin, high-density oxide ceramic tiles or cylinders providing maximum abrasion resistance and a smooth internal profile that prevents blockages.
• KALMETALL® Hardfacing: A metallic solution comprising a tough steel structural base alloyed with a heavy-duty, chromium-carbide hard overlay weld. This combination provides exceptional resistance against high-impact forces combined with severe sliding friction.
• KALCRET® Hard Compound: A highly adaptable, cementitious or epoxy-bonded trowel/spray compound embedded with wear-resistant aggregates like bauxite or corundum. It allows for fast, jointless, and seamless linings in complex geometries or asymmetric pipe cross-sections.
